»Confirmation

"The sacrament of confirmation impresses a character and by it the baptized, continuing on the path of Christian initiation, are enriched by the gift of the Holy Spirit and bound more perfectly to the Church; it straightens them and obliges them more firmly to be witnesses to Christ by word and deed and to spread and defend the faith." (Canon 879).

Eighth grade students in Ascension Catholic School and School of Religion will celebrate Confirmation following their preparation in class and at four required Confirmation sessions. Other requirements include service hours and attendance at the Confirmation Retreat. Parents and students are expected to take a very active part in their preparation for Confirmation.

All requirements will be explained at a mandatory parent/student meeting at the beginning of the school year. Students are required to have attended 7th grade religion classes before beginning their preparation for Confirmation. High school students who would like to prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation should contact SOR for more information.
