Respect Life is a part of Ministry of Care. The focus of this ministry is to plan and conduct events to raise awareness of the sanctity and importance of human life in all its stages.  Respect life holds poster contests for the school, a dresser campaign to provide baby items to a crisis pregnancy center, gives grants to various organizations that support pro-life causes and schedules speakers to discuss various pro-life issues to the Parish.

 Monthly

• Archdiocese of KCK Pro Life Mass [Third Saturday] – A monthly pro-life mass is held on the third Saturday of each month at 8:00 am at Sts. Cyril & Methodius, 44 N. Mill, Kansas City, Ks. Immediately following Mass is a rosary procession to the abortion clinic approximately 4 blocks away. Eucharistic adoration is available for those not processing. Benediction concludes services by 9:45 am. Please join in this prayerful, peaceful witness to life.

 January

• Roses for Life @ Ascension – Campaign to inform selected pro-abortion Kansas legislators that pro-life advocates are among their voting constituency. Artificial roses are signed by pro-life voters after all Masses and delivered to pro-abortion legislators on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade.
• Crosses for the Unborn @ Ascension – Parishioners create a profound display of crosses on the lawn at the Ascension entrance in remembrance of the unborn victims of abortion.
• Anniversary of Roe v. Wade [January 22]
• Day of Prayer and Penance for Life [January 22] – Day of penance for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion, and of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life celebrated in all U.S. Catholic churches on January 22 (or January 23, if January 22 is a Sunday).
• Rose Procession @ Ascension 5pm Saturday and 10am Sunday Masses – Rose procession at the beginning of Mass includes one parishioner born in each year since Roe v. Wade.
• March for Life (DC) [Near Roe v. Wade anniversary] – Annual pro-life rally in Washington D.C. http://www.marchforlife.org/

• “Fill the Dressers” @ Ascension – Help us fill dressers with new baby items (clothes, blankets, bibs, bottles, diapers, toys, etc.). The baby items and dressers will be donated to four mothers chosen by area crisis pregnancy centers who have chosen LIFE!!!
